Microsoft hopes to attract users from existing mobile platforms.

Tech analysts believe that Windows 7 may be too little and too late given the rise of iPhone and Android in the recent years. However, they pointed out a few compelling reasons of why some users might switch to Windows Phone 7.
They expect users to appreciate Windows Phone 7′s innovative and modern graphical user interface which features hubs and tiles.

Microsoft also lets users try out apps and letting them decide whether to purchase them. Windows Phone 7 supports third-party e-mail services such as G-mail and also features native Exchange access with Active Sync which allows users to connect to multiple Exchange accounts.

Windows Phone 7 users will also enjoy tight integration with other Microsoft services and products particularly related with Office productivity, e-mail, Xbox Live gaming, search, music, videos, and voice communications.

Windows 7 since then enjoyed higher sales than any of its predecessors’ releases.

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, said that they’ve already sold twice as many units of Windows 7 than any other Windows operating system they’ve ever launched. He said that Windows 7 is the best OS Microsoft has ever built.

Meanwhile, information about Microsoft’s next major operating system suggests that it will be released sometime in 2012. Codenamed "Windows 8," the details appeared in two roadmap timeline slides shown by Microsoft at 2009 Professional Developers Conference (PDC).

PDC is an annual Windows software developers conference that usually takes place in Los Angeles, California.

According to a separate information leaked by an employee, Windows 8 will feature or support 128 bit architecture.

Today I want to talk about Microsoft Stores. Everybody has been talking about Microsoft releasing their own retails stores to compete with the Apple retail stores.

As with this reality has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft, we have seen and heard many things that there will debut of computer hardware from their famous “Laptop Hunters” advertisements. They will also sell hardware such as Microsoft keyboard and mice, software such as Microsoft Office, and they will also offer something that I will be compelled to go to Microsoft store for: which is what they call the guru bar — which is where you will go and ask any Windows questions and get any of your Windows problems fixed.

And there may be many flaws with this retail plan, it may be complete successful we just don’t know. Until this reality has all been confirmed, we just won’t know.

Thank you very much. This has been Richard Crake, for Tech Conclave.

This time, in a Microsoft partnership conference held at New Orleans, Steve Ballmer detailed and highlighted the company’s long-term, tenacious, and partner-centric way of doing business. He also expressed his optimism towards Windows 7.

Let’s have a look.

Steve Ballmer says,

“I just wanna end where I started. I thank you guys so much for all the business that we do together. I’m incredibly excited about the amazing opportunity. We have Windows 7, baby – I mean, Windows 7. This is a year, we can all, despite the economy, we can really get out there and pop up the volume so to speak. And I thank you in advance, I appreciated in advance, and I’ll die if we can’t relative to the economy really just – boom – make great things happen this year together, then we can’t do it in a year. I got confidence in what we got, but I really have confidence in what you can do with it.”

Along with the usual list of changes that comes with the big update, they also going to introduce an online office suite to rival Google Docs. This will be a cut-down version of the office suite installed on computers which will have essential applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Microsoft said that this suite will be a set of web applications designed to the highest standards that will bring delight to their customers and will not have quality sacrifices.

Chris Bryant, manager of Microsoft Office Product said, “We’re really raising the bar; the level of expectation for what Web-based applications can do and how they work into real complements for the apps you use on a desktop, using personal computers.”

Microsoft said that the new services will be available early in the mid-2010.

After the successful release of Windows 7 Release Candidate version, Microsoft finally confirmed that Windows 7 is scheduled to be available on the shelves later this year.

Microsoft confirmed that during the TechEd North America 2009. However, the tech community is rather bit worried about this announcement as Microsoft have consistently said that Windows 7 would be a 2010 product and that a release this year could be a premature move.

However, despite rumblings, Microsoft said that it’s confident that the Windows 7 ecosystem is already good to go. It also promised over 10,000 Windows-friendly products making the new operating system free from glitches that were experienced in Vista.

Meanwhile, Windows Vista Service Pack 2 has recently gone gold and it is expected to be released within the next few weeks.

The key benefits of Windows Vista SP2 include:

Windows Search 4.0 for faster and improved search results

Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack

Native support of Blu-ray media in Windows Vista

Windows Connect Now to simplify Wi-Fi configuration and

an update for exFAT file system to support UTC timestamps

In Episode 3 we reported that Microsoft released three ads dubbed as “Laptop Hunters” advocating PC laptops over Apple’s Mac. Just a week after that Microsoft released another ad featuring a woman named Shiela who finds her perfect laptop for moviemaking. She got a widescreen HP HDX 16t from her $2000 budget.

Realizing the power to persuade of those Microsoft ads, Apple counterattacked by releasing their own ads on Apple website called “Get a Mac.” The Get a Mac ads mocked all the ads from Microsoft. Here’s one of the most interesting ads from Apple with the title “Elimination.”

On related note, Apple released an update to Mac OSX 10.5.7. The update brought a handful of improvements and security fixes as well as criticisms from Mac community after a significant number of Mac users had problems before and after installing the update.
