The specifications of the phone are the subject of heated debate. Undoubtedly the S3 will run on Android’s latest operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich, to which its Nexus smartphone has already been updated, with the S2 and Note scheduled to receive the same treatment. Like many of 2012′s announced handsets, the S3 is thought to utilise a quad-core processor, although this has fuelled concerns about the phone’s battery life. It will also reportedly feature a 4.65 inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 12 megapixel camera that can record 1080p video, and 2GB of RAM that can be expanded to 32GB via microSD. 3D rumours suggest that the phone will be able to integrate with 3D enabled TVs, although the 3D mobile phones front for 2012 has gone rather quiet of late.

Anticipation for the S3 is certainly high, as are Samsung’s hopes for the phone’s market success having done particularly well with its predecessors. The manufacturer has already shipped over one million units of the Galaxy Note in just two months, and Samsung stand on the brink of 2012 with some very good prospects for the year ahead. 2011 was the year they drew level with Apple; perhaps 2012 is the year they could overtake them.

This may have been slightly unexpected for some people as Apple’s product, the iPhone 4S has had a monopoly on the smartphone market since it was released. Many customers always seem to have their iPhones handy when they are at work, on the train, or at home playing Partypoker , for their daily communication, organisation and entertainment needs. However, Samsung have been able to keep a steady momentum going to ultimately eclipse Apple in this particular competition, coming out top in the UK market. Clearly Samsung must be doing something right, then, to be able to do better than this technology giant.

The figures from Broadband Genie show that HTC, the Taiwanese smartphone maker came in at an impressive second place with a 32 percent share of the market. Apple came in third after these two, claiming just a 9 percent share. Front-runner Samsung is showing no signs of slowing down, even though Apple has been trying to bring about bans on products manufactured by the Korean company. It seems that these attempts are actually creating more interest among consumers, which inevitably leads to more sales from the Samsung side and increasing success for the company.

Few can argue with the fact that Americans are obsessed with celebrities. Issues of Us Weekly fly off the racks as fast as they are stocked. Any magazine that highlights the lives of celebrities will be sure to sell. Television channels such as E! are highly rated and they focus solely on the lives of people in the spotlight.

Just who are these people that we are so concerned about? At one time this group would have only consisted of actors and musical performers. Today, nearly anyone can be a celebrity. Reality TV has loosened the requirements and talent is no longer relevant. In fact, you don’t even have to be a nice person.

Spencer Pratt and Kate Gosselin are perfect examples. Neither have any discernible talent and yet they have graced the covers of magazines and are well known to practically everyone who lives in this fine country. In a stranger twist, neither have been reported to be very nice. Yet, people want to read about them and will continue to click links that promise information about their latest life events.

Pop culture shows like Teen Mom are particularly troubling because teenagers are finding fame for nothing more than having unprotected sex and getting pregnant at a young age. Clearly, talent is no longer needed to enter the realm of infamy.

Americans are very interested in the idea of fame. The fixation on fame has increased, and the rise of reality TV has only added to this trend. Now, it’s possible to imagine that anyone can be famous, even you! It’s easy to fantasize that one day you can turn on direct tv and find a show starring you and highlighting your relatively mundane life. Perhaps people will want to see you live your life, interact with your family, and find ways to entertain yourself. Dare to dream!

As long as the entertainment industry highlights the lives of the ordinary, Americans will continue to obsess about those who appear to have a better life. As they say, the grass is always greener…

The newspapers and world leaders reacted, Twitter exploded with messages expressing deep sadness from millions of Apple fans, the whole tech community mourned. We realized that we lost a rare gem today.

While it’s unfortunate that I haven’t personally experienced any Apple product due to my economic circumstances when I was still in the Philippines, I’ve witnessed for years from my direct friends and tech correspondents how they strongly admired Apple products and how they became Apple loyalists. I’ve also witnessed friends who became total Apple converts after they experienced their products.

We at Tech Conclave have always been there to report whenever Apple releases new products.
These consistent observations led me to a conclusion some time ago: that many if not all of the Apple products redefined the way people live their lives, that they are really great, and really awesome – and the man behind them is Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs has changed our lives through the devices he conceived and gave us inspiration to do something new, to produce something great, while keeping things simple. While sometimes there are divisions in the tech community, we at Tech Conclave believe that we all admire Steve Jobs’ ingenuity. We recognize that he is one of the greatest inventors of our time and a creative genius that will make this generation to continue to think differently.

We believe that his ideas will continue to dwell in our hearts and minds. His leadership in the tech industry and innovation underlines why we all feel great and proud to be geeks and technology enthusiasts. We share his mindset to do great things for the world through technology. The tech world will be never be the same again without him.

Facebook will now allow its 750 million registered users to post updates on both its platform and Twitter at the same time. This move will provide more content to Twitter, a social platform of 100 million active users.

To enable Twitter updates via Facebook, the user needs to go to facebook.com/twitter and link the profile page to the Twitter account.

The Thunderbolt is a high-speed interconnect technology developed by Intel and Apple that can transfer data between host computers and external devices at up to 10 GB/sec as compared to 5 GB/sec with USB 3.0.

Introduced in February 2011, the technology was initially licensed to Apple and debuted on Macs but Intel said it would make it available to PC makers at a later date.

The adoption of Thunderbolt interface by Acer and Asus could encourage other PC manufacturers to do the same. Hewlett-Packard, the world’s top PC maker, decided to stick to USB 3.0 because of the wide range of peripherals available.

Introduced on June 23, 2011, the Archos G9 tablets offer an unrivaled combination of speed and affordability. The G9 tablets will come in two sizes: 8 inches and 10.1 inches.

The 8-inch Archos G9 tablets will be the first to market with a dual-core, Android Honeycomb 3.2 under a $300 USD price tag featuring an OMAP 4 processor with a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor running at 1 GHz for $299 USD.

For those who want more speed, the 8-inch G9 tablet will also come with a “turbo” variant featuring an OMAP 4 dual-core processor running at 1.5 GHz. This tablet is priced at $329 USD.

All 10-inch Archos G9 tablets will also have 1.5 GHz OMAP 4 dual-core processors running at 1.5 GHz with the price of $399 USD for the 16 GB storage variant and $469 USD for the 250 GB storage variant.

Archos is a consumer electronics manufacturer specializing in portable audio and video players, and Android powered Internet tablets.

The loss of a video recording device will suspend all Tech Conclave video shows from three to four weeks. While this is really sad for me, there’s also something I can look forward to: there’s a new full HD camcorder coming early next month which should drastically improve the video quality of the shows and enable the recording of shows outdoors.

The next camcorder is likely to be a Panasonic camcorder.
