‘Windows 8′ Operating System Looms

On October 22, 2009, Microsoft released the Windows 7 operating system worldwide, the widely-expected remedy to the company’s former ill-fated Windows Vista operating system.

Windows 7 since then enjoyed higher sales than any of its predecessors’ releases.

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, said that they’ve already sold twice as many units of Windows 7 than any other Windows operating system they’ve ever launched. He said that Windows 7 is the best OS Microsoft has ever built.

Meanwhile, information about Microsoft’s next major operating system suggests that it will be released sometime in 2012. Codenamed "Windows 8," the details appeared in two roadmap timeline slides shown by Microsoft at 2009 Professional Developers Conference (PDC).

PDC is an annual Windows software developers conference that usually takes place in Los Angeles, California.

According to a separate information leaked by an employee, Windows 8 will feature or support 128 bit architecture.

HP YOU ON YOU ANNOUNCES CONTEST WINNERS

On July 24, HP launched a video contest in YouTube called You on You Project that invited entrants from around the world to express themselves in 60 seconds with one major rule: they can’t show their faces.

Of more than 1,900 eligible entries received by HP and a series of weekly judging and user-voting, only a handful of entrants made it to top prizes when HP announced the winners on September 21, 2009.
One of them is a video called “Life is My Adventure” by Lucas Ridley, the grand prize winner of the contest. According to HP, the video stood out for how the said entrant communicated his passion for hang-gliding in creative, original and expressive ways.

As the grand winner of the contest, Ridley received a tribute from Grammy-nominated artist Kenna and won $40,000 cash grand prize.

The second place prize of $20,000 was awarded to a video entitled “My Utopia” by P.J. Liguori of United Kingdom, and the third place prize of $15,000 went to a video called “Make It Happen” by Nigel Joseph Anthony of India.

The YouTube community was also given a chance to vote for top three videos to win the Community Awards. During the culmination of the contest, Tim Chantarangsu’s “You on You on Me” video hailed superior and received the prize of $15,000. Two other entrants also won the second and third place prizes of $7,500 and $2,500 respectively.

The You on You Project was administrated by Marden Kane and was a viral extension of HP’s award-winning “The PC is Personal Again” campaign.

Hi I’m John Raul and I’m a geek from the Philippines.
People say life is tougher here and they were right.

Back in my childhood, I experienced selling fruits in the streets and even massaged people’s feet to convince them to buy.

My parents told me if you want something you gotta work using your mind and heart. And so I did, I focused hard on my education until it brought me somewhere.

Last year I acquired my first room and my first bed after sleeping on the floor since 21 years of my life.

Thanks to my HP Compaq laptop, I was able to work at home, express my thoughts through my blog, and
innovate with my computer skills through coding, web designing, videos, and writing.

I even formed a tech news video podcast featuring all of my online friends.

I’d like to meet them and see the world someday and my hard work and computer would enable me just that.

I gotta be consistent in doing my best. I’m sure I’ll get there.

Kodak just pushed forward the envelope in its digital video cameras lineup with their new Kodak Zi8. It boasts groundbreaking full HD recording at 1080p.

The camcorder sports an in-built image stabilization program, a common feature of professional HD cameras, which prevents excessive blurs and renders the recorded HD footage to appear sharper, clearer, and of top quality.

The Kodak Zi8 has a 5 MP sensor, a significant jump from its predecessors, which only featured 1.6 MP sensors. The Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera has a 6.3 mm, fixed focus lens with two focus modes: normal and macro. It features 4x digital zoom and a massive 2.4 LCD display.

The Camcorder has an internal storage of 128 MB, however, this can be expanded up to a whopping 32 GB with an SD memory card which could offer up to 10 hours of high definition recording.The file format used in Kodak Zi8 HD video recording is .MOV (QuickTime) using H.264 video and AAC LC audio codecs, while captured HD images are stored in JPEG format.

DUTCH COURT ORDERS THE PIRATE BAY CLOSURE

For those users who just love to get hands on free software and music downloads on just about any popular title online, The pirate bay.org, which has more than 20 million users, provides an index to BitTorrent files, and which can be used for trading media such as movies, music and games, have faced serious issues when the Netherlands court ruled in favor of antipiracy organization Stichting Brein which alleged that Pirate Bay that it has been infringing copyright in the Netherlands.

According to TGDaily, The Pirate Bay have been given a strict deadline to stop their service or face up to a 3 million Euro fine, rising by an extra 30,000 Euro per day. However, The pirate Bay has been fighting bacl by saying (quote) None of us live in The Netherlands, operate from there or even own the site they are suing over. There are so many errors in this lawsuit that it’s almost a crime to spend the court’s time this way!" said Fredrik Neij, one of The Pirate Bay founders, shortly before the hearing. The Pirate Bay team also says that its impossible for them to take the site down within the given time.

So what’s the fate of The Pirate Bay? While things are not looking good since The Motion Picture Association of America has just filed a lawsuit against The Pirate Bay over alleged copyright infringement, users say that The Pirate Bay will live on, while the service might be stopped, torrents will always be available online.

FINAL FANTASY XIV GAME DETAILS EMERGE

First details about the upcoming game Final Fantasy XIV surfaced early this month after Square-Enix updated the official website of the game.

Final Fantasy XIV is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) like Final Fantasy XI.

Details released on the website include the initial story of the game, the game world and some city-states.
Also revealed in the update are the races found in this Final Fantasy installment namely the: The Elezen,  The Lalafell, The Hyur, The Roegadyn, and the Miqo’te.

During a press conference held by Sony at E3 2009 in June, the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV shocked many fans as the Final Fantasy XIII is still not available.

Final Fantasy XIV Online is due for release in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows
and it’s also rumored that Square-Enix is considering a release for Xbox 360.

On the other hand, Final Fantasy XIII is slated for release on PlayStation 3 exclusively in Japan,
and on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Europe and North America.

MICROSOFT TO OPEN RETAIL STORES NEAR APPLE

Today I want to talk about Microsoft Stores. Everybody has been talking about Microsoft releasing their own retails stores to compete with the Apple retail stores.

As with this reality has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft, we have seen and heard many things that there will debut of computer hardware from their famous "Laptop Hunters" advertisements. They will also sell hardware such as Microsoft keyboard and mice, software such as Microsoft Office, and they will also offer something that I will be compelled to go to Microsoft store for: which is what they call the guru bar — which is where you will go and ask any Windows questions and get any of your Windows problems fixed.

And there may be many flaws with this retail plan, it may be complete successful we just don’t know. Until this reality has all been confirmed, we just won’t know.

TWITTER FAILS, SURVIVES DDOS ATTACKS

Twitter is finally back after several days of downtime after coordinated denial of service attacks struck down its core.

Twitter and other social networking websites such as Facebook are still presently fighting a surge in traffic related to the attack.

Protective measures imposed by Twitter to prevent being knocked offline again has caused issues to 3rd party tools that link to Twitter’s API.

The DDOS attack has been suggested to have been politically motivated aimed at a single user from Georgia. The victim, known to bear the username Cyxymu, uses social media to express views related to tensions
between Russia and Georgia.

Chief Research Officer of Internet security firm F-Secure, said "Launching DDoS attacks against services like Facebook is the equivalent of bombing a TV station because you don’t like one of the newscasters."

The attacks motivated Twitter to work on improving its base infrastructure.

What operating system are you running right now? Within the next year, you could be running Google Chrome OS on a netbook or maybe even a full-size desktop. Google announced its own Chrome recently and it seems to be very promising.

Chrome OS is designed around the web and is meant for power-users of the Internet. They are also be open-source, free, lightweight, and first targeted towards netbooks. Google said its main goals with Chrome OS are speed, simplicity, and security.

They are going back to the basics and redesigning what an OS should be. So, users need not fear viruses, malware, and security updates. The overall idea is to make a fast operating system without constant errors and problems.

MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 TO RIVAL GOOGLE DOCS

Hi everyone, Tom Maxwell here of Tech Conclave.

The software giant Microsoft has recently announced that they’ll be releasing the latest version of their office suite, Microsoft Office 2010.

Along with the usual list of changes that comes with the big update, they also going to introduce an online office suite to rival Google Docs. This will be a cut-down version of the office suite installed on computers which will have essential applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Microsoft said that this suite will be a set of web applications designed to the highest standards that will bring delight to their customers and will not have quality sacrifices.

Chris Bryant, manager of Microsoft Office Product said, "We’re really raising the bar; the level of expectation for what Web-based applications can do and how they work into real complements for the apps you use on a desktop, using personal computers."

Microsoft said that the new services will be available early in the mid-2010.

STEVE BALLMER OPTIMISTIC WITH WINDOWS 7

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is known to become hyper and crazy whenever he gets the chance to grab a microphone in any Microsoft event. This time, in a Microsoft partnership conference held at New Orleans, Steve Ballmer detailed and highlighted the company’s long-term, tenacious, and partner-centric way of doing business. He also expressed his optimism towards Windows 7.

Let’s have a look.

Steve Ballmer says,

"I just wanna end where I started. I thank you guys so much for all the business that we do together. I’m incredibly excited about the amazing opportunity. We have Windows 7, baby – I mean, Windows 7. This is a year, we can all, despite the economy, we can really get out there and pop up the volume so to speak. And I thank you in advance, I appreciated in advance, and I’ll die if we can’t relative to the economy really just – boom – make great things happen this year together, then we can’t do it in a year. I got confidence in what we got, but I really have confidence in what you can do with it."

CYBERBULLYING CASES ON THE RISE

WIth so many online issues such as child predators, hacking, identity theft, fraud and so on, another issue has rose from recent online suicide cases that takes place with cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying is the act of hurting others online by constantly saying bad thing about them.

A recent case with Lori Drew, an adult Missouri resident, was prosecuted for allegedly violating a federal computer fraud law by helping to create a plan to create a fake profile of a boy, "Josh," who sent messages to 13-year-old Megan Meier. The messages, flirtatious at first, eventually turned hurtful. Megan hanged herself after receiving a final message from "Josh" that the world would be a better place without her.

While this many issues like rapes, suicides, and more that have occurred mainly of online social networking, it raises some questions on just how safe the social networking sites are. A US District Court Judge has now pushed the idea into passing a federal law to address new crimes like cyberbullying. With this suicide that has occurred, it sparks a lot of controversy about Social networking. It was last heard on July 5, 2009, that a federal judge’s recent decision against Lori Drew in the "MySpace suicide" case had dismissed the charges.

It brings the questions about how she got away with this person’s suicide. If you know someone that’s undergoing the same issue and is being cyber bullied, I urge to visit these websites and assist in taking down cyberbullying.

TWITTER INVADES WORLD OF WARCRAFT

Who would have thought that you can use twitter on the PC game World of Warcraft? Well, guess what, you can.

They have smartly put together the highly social program "Twitter" with one of the most used games of all time:  World of Warcraft. This smart program is called TweetCraft, so you go along killing ghouls and goblins, as well as keeping in touch with your friends and the outside world.

So TweetCraft was released on 2nd July, and already has received positive reviews, so if your a fan of the franchise World of Warcraft, visit www.tweetcraft.codeplex.com and hit the download spot.

There’s another useful feature, if your fighting "The Prince of Darkness" and your friend’s just don’t believe you, you just use Twitpic, to screenshot your character in game play. And you can also auto tweet so you show your achievements in the game. So receive tweets in and out of the game.

So as Twitter is growing and growing, and you’ll be seeing these twitter clients get produced all the time, so you will start seeing them in other games and bigger names.

So, my goal is to write an iPhone app. Even then, after I do that, I know that my geek adventures will never end because there will always be something that I haven’t done and there will always be something that I wanna do.

John: What’s the most unforgettable moment that you’ve ever done in GeekBrief.TV?

Cali: The most memorable thing that we’ve done with GeekBrief is the "Digg the Code" video.  We stayed up all night to create it. When we woke up the next morning, we were on the front page of Digg.com. So much fun!

STEVE JOBS RECOVERING FROM TRANSPLANT SURGERY

For those Mac fans, Apple’s CEO and cofounder, Steve Jobs, underwent a liver transplant two months ago and is still recovering to this day. It has been reported by CNN’s Health News that Steve Jobs will be able to continue being Apple’s strong and energetic CEO and cofounder.

However, there have been some rising issues with Steve Jobs’ recent liver transplant. Not an issue at his own personal health, but rather an issue on just how fast he was able to get his transplant. With so many patients in line for a liver transplant such as Steve Jobs, are those with enough money able to "jump" ahead of the list? Another detail that was rather odd in Steve Job’s transplant is the surgery took place at a hospital in Tennessee, 2,000 miles from Jobs’ home in northern California, but why Tennessee?

While many questions still leave us answered, we are glad to see Steve Job’s recovering and also healthy and well to this day.

FIREFOX 3.5 UNLEASHES NEW SPEED, SMART FEATURES

Mozilla made Firefox 3.5 available for download on June 30, 2009 after a series of release candidate versions releases. Firefox 3.5 delivers newfound speed and features.

According to Mike Beltzner, the Director of Firefox Development, Firefox 3.5 is fastest Firefox ever.

Firefox 3.5’s top new features include:

• improved performance – resulted from smaller memory footprint, enhanced memory management
• location-aware browsing
• private browsing mode
• one-click bookmarking  – for faster bookmarking, searching and organizing favorite websites
• password manager
• smart location bar
• instant website ID to help protect yourself against scams and unsafe transactions
• full zoom and
• native look and feel

Many tech analysts opined that Firefox 3.5 will accelerate the downfall of Internet Explorer while making a strong defense against other fast browsers such as Safari and Google Chrome.

Firefox 3.5 can be installed in seconds. While the majority of users are happy with the enhancements,
some upgraders complained that they experienced crashes and what does Firefox 3.5 tell them: "Well, this is embarrassing." – I guess it is indeed.

INTRODUCING HTC HERO: THE SECOND ANDROID PHONE

HTC has announced its next Android phone, the HTC Hero, at a press event in London this month. The phone features the Google Android operating system.

It is a smart touch screen phone that boasts a five-megapixel auto-focus camera letting you to easily capture and add high quality images and video to your gallery. It has 3.2-inch TFT-LCD display with a screen resolution of 320????480 pixels for sharp and bright viewing.

The phone will also be the first phone to run Adobe Flash, allowing you to fully access websites loaded with animation and flash content.

The HTC Hero will be available in seven different colors including black, white, yellow, pink, gold, ted and turquoise. The HTC will make its debut with the European market in July, followed by Asia and the US, later in 2009. However there were no details on price or availability of the HTC Hero yet.

SNEAK PEAK: LEFT 4 DEAD 2

Valve is releasing their second installment to the Left 4 Dead series, Left 4 Dead 2.  Left 4 Dead 2 takes place during the same time allotment as the first Left 4 Dead but is located in the southern United States, New Orleans. 

The story shows that the infection did not just happen on a small scale in the eastern parts of the United States. Following a new set of characters through a new set of levels and environments Left 4 Dead 2 is aimed to be better than the first. 

I am a big fan of Left 4 Dead and am really looking forward to getting this game.  Left 4 Dead 2 is to be released on November 17th, 2009.

Demitri: How would you divide yourself being a geek and a rockstar?
Scheff: Being a geek or rock star: I don’t have to decide for the two but it’s simple as this: I am a geek because I love technology and I love computers and I guess that’s how we associate being a geek with. I’m a nerdy guy with glasses ‘coz I wear glasses when I’m not doing interviews and videos on the Internet. So, I love it, I’m a geek and I just think I’m more of a rocker geek.

Demitri: What made you love technology?
Scheff:: What got me into technology was music. I used to record in the analog world and I love it to death. Still but, when computers came around and digital recording came around, it just was so much faster and easier and convenient so that’s kinda my first introduction to computers I’m working on. By 1995 and 1996, the Internet was blown up and it was just non-stop. I’ve never been without a computer since. And I used it for everything. So, I Ioved it. That’s the way I communicate, that’s how I conduct business, that’s how I create music, also in the computer. It’s good to be a geek. Tech Conclave rocks.

Hi, Tom Maxwell here for Tech Conclave. Earlier this week, Samsung launched their new Smartphone called the Samsung S8000 Jet. But, is it an iPhone beater?

The phone boasts a fast 800 MHz processor leaving all other smart phones for dust as the average high end smart phone, until now was 600 MHz.

The phone boasts many new features including, Microsoft’s ActiveSync push email for business users, one finger zoom, which is the ability to zoom in and out using only one finger and one hand, 3.1 inch ultra bright display, with a resolution of four times higher than the WQVGA standard. It has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and an LED flash, auto focus, face detection and geo tagging. It can record video at 30 frames per second at MPEG4 and of course a music player that can just about play any format.

The memory on the Jet is either 2GB or 8GB integrated. You have the option of expanding this up to 16GB via a micro SD card. The Battery life expectancy is about 300 minutes of talk time for 3G and for 2G your going to get around 419 and the standby time is around 400 hours. The phone also comes with a new web browser called "dolphin" which promises to make mobile browsing easier with new features like, multi window browsing, advanced bookmaking and a sophisticated add blocker.

But, is the Samsung Jet an iPhone Beater? Well, in my opinion, despite the advanced specifications, sadly no, because of the Apple App Store allowing iPhone users to make the most of their iPhone.

But as with most things, only time will tell.

SAFARI 4 HYPE DWARFED BY FIREFOX 3 DOWNLOADS

Apple’s Safari 4 Web Browser just hit the download area, creating much hype and talk online after it was recently released from its beta version. Safari’s new capabilities include a wide rage of user interactivity in style, with its new cover flow, support for native look and feel for Windows Vista and XP, and its HTML web page load speed four times faster than Firefox according to apple. While many of its looks and speed have increased, its security features have stayed the same, a downside to Apple’s Safari 4.

Safari 4 has in fact, already topped 11 million downloads in its first three days of its release. A download mark very impressive considering that more than 6 million of its downloads were from Windows-based users. Although this is a very high number, it didn’t get anywhere near Firefox’s number of downloads for 3.0.11, pulling 150 million downloads in 24 hours, as Mozilla’s Asa Dotzler reported. With more than 300 million active users of Firefox, Mozilla is still miles ahead of Safari and Internet Explorer in terms of its users and community.

With so much competition between these major browsers, there is still a decision to make in choosing one, while Microsoft resorts to charitable donations to make its Internet Explorer browser downloads increase, and Apple claims misleading Safari download numbers, Firefox wins because it’s simply better. .

WORDCAMP DALLAS AT 2009  UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

MAX PAYNE 3 COMING IN WINTER 2009

Rockstar Games’ is bringing back its fallen hero from their third-person shooter franchise Max Payne.  Max Payne 3 is to be released Winter of 2009.  Max Payne has returned many years later after the murder of his family to bring justice and "pain" to those who made his life a nightmare. 

Moving away from the familiar Noir York City scene, Max travels to a foreign place in South America to finish off what he started.  Remedy Games no longer working on Max Payne 3, Rockstar games has taken over the franchise from this point.  Rockstar games is trying to build to the new game but also keep it familiar and favorable features so new comers and old fans to the franchise will enjoy this game.  Max Payne 3 looks to be a game pleasing to all gamers.

Stephen: It’s gotta be the church and my youth group. Like I said, I’m a youth pastor there. And, I have a great time working with the kids and working with the teens and helping them grow and mature and did a lot of things – teach them a lot of things. I like to involve technology in that. It’s good be a geek.

On June 8, Apple introduced the iPhone 3GS at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2009.

Apple highlights this version of the iPhone to be the fastest and the most powerful iPhone to date. The iPhone 3GS has a new processor built-in, which makes it two times faster than the previous generation.

It also has new three megapixels camera, that supports auto focus, auto exposure, and auto white balance, special macro and low light modes which makes iPhone photography ideal at anytime and anyplace.

iPhone 3G S will be able to record video at 30 frames per second with on-device editing capability. Other features include the iPhone 3G S now water and oil-resistant, has integrated magnetic compass, and voice control.

One of the most important new improvements with iPhone 3G S is the increased battery life. Users will now enjoy up to 12 hours of talk time on 2G and 5 hours on 3G, with up to 300 hours standby time.

The new iPhone 3GS will hit shelves on June 19 with a price of $199 for the 16GB version and $299 for the 32GB version. Ineligible upgraders will need to shell out at least $399 to get the new iPhone 3GS version.
Apple has lowered the price of iPhone 3G to $99.

The company also announced the release of iPhone 3.0 OS on June 17. With the new OS iPhone users
will enjoy new services such as Find My iPhone which tracks down your phone if it gets lost,
the ability to rent or purchase movies and audiobooks, new version of Safari browser,
tethering and many more.

NEW MACBOOK BRO: CHEAPER AND FASTER

They bumped up the white Macbook. They entirely refreshed the entire Macbook line. The white Macbook is now the only Macbook as the 13 inch aluminum Macbook it is now newly dubbed the Macbook Pro, as they’ve now added a Firewire 800 port, an SD Card reader and the name "Pro."

The 15-inch Macbook Pro also got an SD card reader. The 17-inch Macbook Pro still remains with the Express 34 slot. And all the Macbook Pros had a few if not major updates to its specs.

MacBook Air has had a huge price drop as solid state drives fall at affordable price.

SNOW LEOPARD TO BE RELEASED IN SEPTEMBER

Apple has announced at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that Snow Leopard, Apple’s next major operating system update, will be released in September this year.

It will cost only $29 dollars for current Leopard users and $49 dollars for a family pack.

Snow Leopard’s general system requirements include:

• a Mac computer with an Intel processor,
• 1 GB of memory
• 5 GB of free disk space
• DVD drive for installation and
• Internet connection for some features.

For those of you who want to upgrade to Snow Leopard, the benefits are:

• support for Microsoft Exchange 2007
• smaller hard drive and RAM footprint which means faster installation
• support for up to 16 Terabytes of RAM
• Grand Central Dispatch
• QuickTime X
• Open Computer Language (Open CL)
• various user interface improvements and many more

HIGHLIGHTS OF E3 2009

The disappointment of the E3 Expo last year left fans and fellow gamers doubting the event this year, but the "buzz" around the event and the leaked information brought hope back into peoples hearts that this year E3 is going to be a success and much more going for it.

The speculation and the rumors that surrounded this event didn’t disappoint, game developers announced a large selection of games coming out closer to December as well as some new gadgets for the consoles themselves, which are hopefully going to enhance the games and the gaming experience furthermore.

Starting with Nintendo’s news, who announced a couple of exclusive games for themselves leaving fans excited as Super Mario Bros was announced, the classic Mario game, but with a 3D aspect to it, leaving the characters looking better then they have ever done before. Also announcing a second installment of Super Mario Galaxy, giving players’ new missions, tasks and goals as well as a promise of some fan favorites and power-ups as well as a first time ever chance to play as Yoshi within the game.

Nintendo also leading on from announcing Motion Plus not so long ago to Wii Fit Plus, giving the player much more controller over the objects and characters within the game, furthermore increasing the excitement of physical gaming which the Wii has started with Motion Controllers and Wii Fit.

Microsoft also made fairly thrilling announcements, with not only announcing the franchise returns of their best selling games such as Halo, coming out with an announcement for Halo ODST and a new Halo game called Halo Reach and Metroid fans will not be disappointed with the new Metroid, Metroid Other M announcement, bringing back what Metroid was so well know for. An announcement that some PlayStation fanboys didn’t take to heart was that Metal Gear Solid Rising was announced for the Xbox 360, as well as Crackdown 2.

But the most exciting announcement by Microsoft was the new controller system that they hope to release in the near future code named Project Natal, basically allowing the person playing the game to be the controller, without wearing any suit or hold controllers, simply standing in front of a camera and their movement being detected by a special camera, adding the cherry to the cake, it recognizes multiple people as individuals allowing multiplier gaming.

Sony, being the final keynote of the event came out with some great exclusives in the game market, announcing Gran Turismo 5 (not the prologue) continuing the much appreciated racing simulator franchise exclusive to the PlayStation. Also announcing a new game from Team Ico’s, who are responsible for such gaming marvels as Ico and Shadow of Colossus, came out with The Last Guardian, a similar style game as the previous two. Sony also gave a first public look of God of War 3 predicted to be out March 2010.
Sony also announced the much awaited PSP 2, or otherwise known as the PSP Go, which is not going to be a new range of consoles, but in fact be a redesign and improvement over the current PSP’s and will not contain a UMB drive, but will be based around downloadable content, leaving the question off, what to do with the already bought games?

Sony also following the crowd announced a new controller for the PlayStation 3, being based around the principle of Nintendo’s Motion Plus, using the PlayStation’s EyeToy to detect the players movements, who will also be holding a ???wand??? controller, giving the player pin point accurate controllers over the objects in the game, and was demonstrated in real time during the keynote.

Of course not over seeing some of the other games that were announced during the event, like Assassins Creed 2 from Ubisoft, the sequel of the much loved first game, being based on the same concept of an assassin, but changing the scenery and time period.

Alan Wake was also announced a new game to the market made by Remedy Entertainment, the people that brought us Max Payne, which will brought to Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. 

Overall the event left people excited to say the least, about the upcoming developments in the gaming world, and personally, I can’t wait to try out some of the new control systems and games.

It was slightly disappointing that none of the manufacturers announced a price cut in the consoles and Sony didn’t say anything about the speculated PlayStation 3 Slimline.
