HP YOU ON YOU ANNOUNCES CONTEST WINNERS

Reported by John Raul Joven II

HP You on You Contest Winners On July 24, HP launched a video contest in YouTube called You on You Project that invited entrants from around the world to express themselves in 60 seconds with one major rule: they can’t show their faces.

Of more than 1,900 eligible entries received by HP and a series of weekly judging and user-voting, only a handful of entrants made it to top prizes when HP announced the winners on September 21, 2009.
One of them is a video called “Life is My Adventure” by Lucas Ridley, the grand prize winner of the contest. According to HP, the video stood out for how the said entrant communicated his passion for hang-gliding in creative, original and expressive ways.

As the grand winner of the contest, Ridley received a tribute from Grammy-nominated artist Kenna and won $40,000 cash grand prize.

The second place prize of $20,000 was awarded to a video entitled “My Utopia” by P.J. Liguori of United Kingdom, and the third place prize of $15,000 went to a video called “Make It Happen” by Nigel Joseph Anthony of India.

The YouTube community was also given a chance to vote for top three videos to win the Community Awards. During the culmination of the contest, Tim Chantarangsu’sYou on You on Me” video hailed superior and received the prize of $15,000. Two other entrants also won the second and third place prizes of $7,500 and $2,500 respectively.

The You on You Project was administrated by Marden Kane and was a viral extension of HP’s award-winning “The PC is Personal Again” campaign.

TECH CONCLAVE WINS HP CONTEST
Reported by John Raul Joven II

Tech Conclave Global Support Overwhelming In the last Tech Conclave video I released I asked
you guys to vote and campaign for my video entry
for the HP You on You Project contest.

I want to tell you that I was completely overwhelmed
with all your support that I received.

The votes you cast, all the time you spent to embed my video on your Facebook accounts and any social network and campaigned for it nearly every day for one and a half weeks, the time and efforts you spent in creating support videos and broadcast messages on Twitter asking your own audience to vote for my video… These are winning acts I will always remember and never forget for life.

Though I’m very happy that our video was included in the Top 100 prizes, I strongly believe — based on the amount of support you expressed that I personally saw in the past weeks — that we deserved a better outcome of the contest. Since that never happened, I want to reciprocate you guys with this “thank you”
video that I made for your continued patronage to me and to our show, the Tech Conclave.

GEEK OF THE WEEK: ANOUAR ABDELALI
Reported by John Raul Joven II

Anouar Abdelali Geek of the Week Our geek of the week for episode 12 is Anouar Abdelali, a marketer geek from the Kingdom of Morocco.

John: Who is Anouar in online and real world?
Anouar: First of all my name is Anouar Abdelali and I’m from Morocco. Offline, I’m a civil engineer, but actually I never worked a day in my life in this field. The reason why is that two years ago I stumbled on a site talking about making money online. So, this is my first contact with online business, SEO, video marketing, and all Internet marketing stuff. So online I’m an Internet marketer, and now I’m focusing all my energy on affiliate marketing business model, and I’m also interested in viral marketing.
